A philisophical question...

Is it better to have a single, more powerful VPS or multiple smaller VPS with less system resources?

I understand this is a generic question whose answer depends on the domains specifics, business model (if reseller), control panel software, administration needs, etc.

However, from a VPS performance perspective, assuming the system resources are adequate for either option, is one inherently better? Is there anything about a VPS or Virtuozzo that makes a difference? Can a smaller VPS be ugraded easily and instantly to a higher account?

Any comments from existing PowerVPS users who handle multiple VPS or who have upgraded are appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'd like to hear the users opinions too, but I'll thow in my $0.02

It's a trade off.

You'll get more resources total and have options for redundancy if you use multiple VPS. For example you can use redundant DNS with cpanel. You also don't have all your eggs in one basket so to speak if you spread out your customers on multiple VPS. The individual VPS can be upgraded if needed, so not downside there.

But, its more work to manage multiple VPS. Depending on your skills and how much customization you do, this may or may not be a big issue for you.
