At the end of installation, a window pops up and says Installation ended prematurely because of an error.
Rebooted, installed the licence key without problem (well, no news is good news? ).

The Plesk icon is on the system tray, so I assume it's running in some way or other.

I tried logging in to the Plesk CP at port 8443, it will ask you to choose the shared ip's, new password etc. However the default entry for hostname ("VPSxxxx") was not accepted. It threw out Some fields are empty or contain improper value.
I didn't want to just change the hostname so I haven't. Should we use a full host.domain.tld?

I have done several installs now, and most have given that error. Some have continued to have errors after that, some not. Please let us know how yours goes from here.

Yes the hostname has to be a fully qualified domain name.

Having done a 'complete' install and then looking at the task manager and VZPP's resources, almost all of the 256MB of memory have been consumed.

Also, had to reboot when I couldn't access Plesk after trying to install the Community ASP.net Starter Kit. Some error popped up, and then install failed. Regretably I did not take note of the error msg.

So now, after logging into Plesk, I get this
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: seterror() in C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\plib\class.Components.php on line 314 and nothing else.

I guess I'd have to enter a ticket now but I'd rather uninstall Plesk and then re-install. Would it be ok if I just do this? I'm asking first in case you guys want to go in and investigate.

Ok, here is where we stand..

The 7.5 Plesk install we are doing is a pig. In fact today SWSoft tells me we shouldn't be using it as there are known issues on the VPS. LOL. They didn't say that when I told them I was going to do it, just after I reported all the problems.

Anway, they may have a preview of the template based install for us soon, which should have these issues resolved.

But back to the memory use. Yes, I am aware of this. I have done some tests and the install fares better with more memory (despite never actually reporting hitting a limit). The plan was to do some file caching that should effectively drop the disk and memory use back down to the levels when using a template install. Unfortuantely I have found problems with this and am waiting for feedback/fixes from SWSoft.

So until then if you want to try again, I can rebuild your server and give you more memory. I do not think uninstalling is an option.

let me know

Yes, rebuild please. I can't even get the Plesk login page now. It seems to loop or hang.

Yeah, something is overwhelming the cpu on the server right now. tracking it down now. I'll rebuild your VPS once we get this sorted out.

Ok, rebuilt - you now have 300Mb RAM.

Just run C:/WINDOWS/Temp/plesk_7.5.0_build050217.19.exe and do a complete install and say yes to the shared desktop. Run C:/WINDOWS/Temp/PLSK.00079366.0000.exe to install the license afterwards

Hi charles,

The C:\Windows\Temp folder is empty. A search for *plesk* on all of C: also returns nought.

I'll do a complete install, for testing. However, later could I do a custom install and throw out some stuff like Tomcat?

Sorry, Look now.

Please do a custom install then.

Successfully installed. :D

The custom install already had Tomcat unchecked along with several web applications.
There was no option for Firewall, and that component is all greyed out under Server->Ip Address.

MS SQL/MSDE also doesn't seem to be installed, and a check with the Task Manager confirms this.
