Well, with no luck on using my preferred firewall solution, I decided to install Simple DNS Plus. So far so good. Will try to install MDaemon next.
Another thing I noticed is that although I can adjust regional settings, including keyboard and so forth (including time zones). The time is *always* incorrect. It's at least forward two hours from GMT time.
If anybody can recommend a decent third-party firewall that would work within the VPS, it would be appreciated. I don't have much confidence with the Microsoft offerings. I'm currently using the firewall through Network Connections/Advanced, but I don't have great confidence with it after previous experiences..

First, can you throw me a bone and tell me who you are so I know who I'm dealing with? A first name is fine. I've never understood this desire to be anonymous online - not that it usually matters, but in this case it really helps me to know who you are :)

Did you edit this thread? I got the impression from your first post that you'd locked yourself out or something. But it would be great to know which 3rd party firewall solutions work!

This have been covered in other threads I believe. Right now anyone can change the time in their VPS and it changes it for all VPS *AND* the server itself No word back from SWSoft about this one. At this time all I can do is ask that you don't change the time yourself, and deal with EST.

I have my doubts, but please keep trying them and let us know if any work.

Whoops! Sorry, it's Martyn Drake.
I've also tried Visnetic Firewall and that doesn't work either. I've also tried NeT Firewall, and that doesn't work (thinks it's a corrupt installation). Most stateful packet firewalls do not seem to pick up on the network interface. Even ICF is beginning to fail me now - it's not allowing the firewall to be switched on. No errors, which makes it even odder.
RE: time changing. Noted. Will not play with that again. My apologies ;)
Simple DNS is running just fine, and MDaemon installed okay, but don't have the time right now to tinker. Hopefully tomorrow.

Something odd has happened.
The evaluation for Simple DNS Plus has expired despite only being in use for a day or so (it's supposed to be a 14 day trial)...

I really doubt this has anything to do with it being a VPS.
Would someone else like to try this and see if the saem thing happens?

Registered Simple DNS Plus - it's now working again. Although if somebody could try a time limited trial (it doesn't have to be Simple DNS) of some description within a VPS, it would be good to see if it keeps to whatever the length of the trial is.
I know Virtuozzo for Linux recently had stateful packet firewall support incoprorated into it recently - are there any plans for the Windows version? Really, nothing I've found works within the VPS. It's either the installer/software does not recognise the network driver that the VPS uses, or something else. The thing with Kerio ServerFirewall was that the service HAD started, but the admin interface didn't run. Visnetic didn't find the network interface, and NeT thought it had a corrupt install on it's hands.
I'm going to try MDaemon properly today. I'm going to use it as a backup MX server (and possibly allocate one of my domains to it as a primary). I'll report within this thread how it goes. Hopefully more news this evening.

P.S. - I hope SW-Soft can fix the regional/timezone settings so I can keep my VPS in line with GMT without affecting the entire server and other VPSes ;)

MDaemon working just great. Have also used a free 30-day FreeSSL certificate against the IIS virtual host I've set-up for the webmail interface MDaemon provides. All installed and all working.

Further update.
After 45 hours, MDaemon and Simple DNS Plus are continuing to run just fine. I get the following message in the Application log quite often, but nothing untoward or nasty has happened so will assume it's not that important :)
Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.
Incidently, the My Computer -> General Tab (System Properties) reveals I have a staggering 32Mb of RAM. I assume that isn't correct? ;)

Yeah, this should be covered in another thread. SWSoft knows about this and doesn't expect to have this fixed anytime soon. Use the power panel to see resources.

For some reason, MDaemon is unable to deliver messages (or rather, move messages between queues, including local and remote delivery) anymore and thus is pretty useless. I have the same set-up on my dedicated box and I can't see any difference in configuration. I've tried release and beta versions of MDaemon and nothing seems to move it other than to reboot the VPS, after which everything is suddenly delivered just fine.
Simple DNS is still okay, though.
