For security reasons there are a number of server configuration settings that get stored outside of your VPS by virtuosso that will get reset on reboot unless you request your hosting provider set them for you in your VPS configuration file. The list includes
hostname [1]
the contents of /etc/resolv.conf [2]
ip addresses
Contact your hosting provider to get these updated if you need to.

[1] Defender hosting updates your VPS config automatically if you reboot
[2] Defender hosting provides appropriate DNS servers with an initial install, but after a panel install this may need adjusting.

Hi Charles,
This seems a little different then my recent hostname change experience where I needed to change /etc/sysconfig/network in order to have my hostname change "stick" (as per https://www.deftechgroup.com/support/index.php?_a=tickets&_m=listview&_i=RTN-19491 ...a trouble ticket that only authorized DTG people can view).
Did DTG also change the above things (in this thread) per for the aforementioned ticket?

Changing your hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network is a standard requirement - ie. needs to be done in a non-vps enviroment. This thread attempts to address the "unusual" features of a virtuosso based vps with regards to rebooting. Without our changes even if you had changed /etc/sysconfig/network it would have gotten overwritten.
But yes these changes were in place well before this thread.
