Hello,
I finally got my VPS setup right but my FTP is so slow? It takes more than 5 seconds
to connect and when i go into another folder, it takes another five seconds and sometimes longer- any fix on this?
I searched for "slow ftp" but it will only allow me to enter one word  so i entered ftp and came up with only 7 threads and they weren't even related to ftp speed and etc. It seems i'm the only one having this issue?
Thank You
Robert

Hi there!
There could be several reasons FTP is running slow. If only ftp is running slow, it could be that your VPS does not have passive FTP configured correctly with the firewall.
If there are general slowness issues, it could either be something between you and your VPS. For these kinds of cases, I would suggest opening a DOS window if you are on a PC (Start > Run > Type in "cmd") and then type "tracert YOURIP". That will show the path your computer takes to get to your VPS. Or there might be a process using all of your system resources that is causing a slowdown of the VPS.
If you would open a support ticket by visiting www.powervps.com/support or e-mail support@powervps.com we would be happy to take a look at the issue.
We're here 24/7. :)

This issue was solved last night by our other Robert via the helpdesk. :)
The problem was related to the passive FTP ports as I suspected. If anyone else has a similar problem, please drop our support team a note and let us know. We'll be happy to investigate for you.
A further increase of login-speed can be achieved by switching ProFTP’s identd lookups off . To do this enter
IdentLookups off into /etc/proftpd.conf or /etc/proftpd.include. This makes the FTP-logins more or less instantaneous, at least for me.
