I was reading this thread (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=394238) on WHT and wondering, how accurate is this information? Is it true that you can't upload more than a 2 GB file (one file) on a VPS with 10 GB space?

Hi there!
This is totally false. You can create and upload a file as large as you want that is within your quota.
To test this out, I created a tar file larger than 2 GB.
[root@server03 /]# ls -alh large*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.2G Apr 14 00:13 largefile.tar
[root@server03 /]#
This was done directly from a Power-1 VPS.
I was able to FTP this file from one VPS to another without any problems. GENERALLY this type of restriction is due to a limit or misconfiguration on the client side. Many of them will not recognize larger files.
If your FTP program does not allow you to see / upload large files (2GB+), you can always manually upload it using the command line. Let us know if you need steps to do that later. :)
Hope that helps!

Thanks Robert. I haven't seen this my self but I've never tried uploading anything around 2 GB via FTP.
I was a bit concerned because I wouldn't like my customers to be limited in case they really do want to upload something that size (although none have that amount of space as of now). Good to know that this is probably just a misconfiguration and not a limitation.
