Hi guys,

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of cpanel and dns knows this.

I cannot create a parked (or addon) domain using cpanel. I recieve the message below:

---------

Nameserver ips for premiericons.biz are: 204.157.10.170,204.157.10.169 Sorry, that domain (premiericons.biz) is already pointed at an ip address that does not appear to use dns servers on this server or master servers! Please transfer the domain to this server's nameservers or have your admin add one of its nameservers ips to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver!

---------

but...

1: The IPs above ARE our nameserver IPs and this makes sense since the nameservers were updated at the registrar.
2: Parking and addon domain are enabled package features (otherwise I would get different errors) and the account has some free to use.
3: Both parking and addons work fine via WHM, either as root or reseller.
4.The nameservers are set in the WHM config.

I didn't find any help at the cpanel forum. I can post more info if needed.

Any ideas how to fix it or why whm is OK with it and not cpanel?

Thanks!

Hello:

You can go to WHM and at the "Tweak Settings" category, select the option:

Allow Creation of Parked/Addon Domains that resolve to other servers (ie domain transfers) [This can be a major security problem. If you must have it enabled, be sure to not allow users to park common internet domains.]

That should do the trick.

That did it. Thanks Tomas. :-)

However it raises another question...why did I need to enable it?

Since the domain was pointing to the correct nameservers on the same computer/vps, why do I need to enable it to allow cpanel to add the domain? Does everyone who uses cpanel domain management need to enable this?

Maybe my question above is a dumb but I want to be certain there's not another problem that whm is letting me ignore and also creating a potential security problem at the same time.

Sometimes propagation times are longer, so if you want to speedup the process, you cna enable that option.
