plesk email forwarding

i've been using a local mailbox on plesk via IMAP for many months without a problem.

however, i'm going to be using gmail for the next 12 months instead of my IMAP mailbox, and want to forward all of my email via the "redirect" option in the plesk control panel.

the redirect works fine in forwarding my email, but the server still keeps delivering email to my local IMAP mailbox on my server as well!

when i try disabling the "mailbox" feature, it warns me that it will delete all of my emails in my mailbox, which i *don't* want to do (since i may be using that mailbox again in 12 months, and would like to pick up where i left off).

i just want to forward my email without having it deliver locally (and without deleting my existing local mailbox) -- anyone see a solution to this issue? any thoughts appreciated.

I'm afraid there's no solution to this. There may be a workaround: Back up your mail boxes, i.e. tar up all of your mail and store it somewhere safe, then delete the mailbox.

Should you want to go back to using this mailbox later, simply create a new mailbox for the account, clear out the generated files and untar your tar.
