Hi there,

I am new to powervps and also new to cPanel. However, I am fairly knowledgeable about linux.

When I add or modify an user (called "Account" in cPanel ) using cPanel, it always seems to assign "/bin/bash" as the shell.

I can go in and edit the /etc/passwd file manually and change the shell to /bin/tcsh .

This works, . . . until the next time I use cPanel to modify this user. cPanel seems to overwrite the shell.

My goal is to avoid using the command line and do everything by using cPanel as much as possible.

So, how does one change the shell using cPanel?

Thanks in advance.

In your WHM under Account Functions/Manage Shell Access
Actually, in WHM, the only option is to either allow access (/bin/sh) or disable access (jailshell). That was the problem.

I am no longer using cPanel (too limited for my use) and have switched to using plain vanilla linux, so this is from memory.
