Hello,
Maybe what i would like to have is not realistic in a point of view of license fees but i would like to see (and buy!) a small VPS package like the WEBMIN-0 but with cPanel/plesk instead of Webmin.
It would be awsome if PowerVPS could offer this.
Thanks!

'Fraid you're right on the realistic chances of this happening... NIL!
All the main stream control panels require license fees that prohibit lower monthly fees. It's been discussed here a little...

If you buy a single license from either cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin it gets even more silly! We benefit here from PowerVPS getting bulk discounts.
By the way, a certain competitor of PowerVPS charges the same for a VPS with no panel as one with one! Now that one does take some understanding! Mentioning no names but it rhymes with burnt chimp! :p

ROFL!!! :D
Also, if another provider is selling you a Power-0 like plan with a resource hog like cPanel, they are doing you a disservice. The Power-1 plan is configured and tuned to support cPanel, there is no way a Power-0 plan could run cPanel or Plesk without some serious problems, sooner or later.
Plesk low-domain/low resource usage *may* work, but in the end, it'll cost us on customer service as well as reputation. Someone would buy a P0 with Plesk and try and stuff java and 500 domains on there, and then be upset with us when it didn't work.

But Tom don't you think that if someone will stuff java and 500 domains as you say on a Power-1 plan he will also get upset with you? It’s basically the same thing.
Plans with 128 MB RAM and Cpanel/Plesk are offered by other good providers, and yes they are not great, but for someone that wants to hosts 5-10 domains this is a serious option. Maybe this is not a big market for you but it should be at least considered.

Just to give you the full picture, i dont need a VPS to become a webhost. We already do this at my daytime job and we have dedicated servers for that.
I just need one for personal stuff and websites, to have the flexibility a dedicated environment offers.
No java stuff, or thousands of domains hosted.
You could maybe think of a plan with a limited cPanel/plesk license (not unlimited), and without ClientExec. Just that should already cutt off your licenses cost a bit?
And if you keep the RAM allocation and offer 5GB storage and 50-100 GB transfer, i think it would be a good plan for persons who want the advantages of a dedicated environment but not to become a webshost on the VPS
If anyone else wants to cast a vote, maybe Tom will design us something ;)

Hello,
Could someone from PowerVPS give ma a reply on my above post? Just wanna know if you're interessed in making something like that or just don't want to deliver that kind of packages?
Hiya David/bogdan,
Sorry for the late reply to your post.
While a few of you guys understand the limitations, the majority of folks will not. If we did a Power-0 plan with cPanel, posted it for ordering, we'd have a ton of orders, and even more tickets from folks that "just don't get it".
They would say we sold them something that doesn't work, we "lied" to them, and everything else. Support tickets would go through the roof as people had issues with (fill in the blank) not working because of the low ram limitations, etc.
The same wold hold true for the Power-0 cPanel folks that would want fantastico and rvskins, and then be upset when half the applications didn't run and what not.
If you want to test one, please email or PM me, I have no objection to you guys testing a P0 out with cPanel and just seeing how bad it really is. I've talked with customers and other providers doing low-end VPS' with cPanel, and almost all of them have serious issues, etc.
On the other hand, perhaps you can get it humming along and maybe we can put some VERY tight restrictions around a cPanel Power-0 offering. ;)

Dear Tom,
OK, i got your point. There's obviously no reason to offer a crappy plan, you'll kill your reputation and spend lots of time in tickets. However, in my last reply i wasn't talking realy about cutting off al the ressources.
I dont know what is your cost/margin ratios on ressources/licences/support, but here's what i suggest; a plan for guys who wants something between a reseller hosting account and a full VPS to use as a webhost. Therefore maybe my proposal make almost no difference, but can you give me your toughts?
PLAN 0.5
Fedora Core 2
Equal share CPU
cPanel/WHM (latest edition) 30/100 DOMAINS LICENSE
Fantastico De-Luxe - REMOVED
Clientexec - REMOVED
1GB Burst RAM
256MB RAM guaranteed
10GB Disk Space
150GB Monthly Transfer - BETWEEN 50 AND 100 GB
2 IP numbers
Power Panel
Your own name servers
Unlimited domains
Makes sense?
What is your price point for a plan like that?
I wish cPanel had a cheaper/smaller domain license, everything they offer is 'unlimited' domains, unlike Plesk that has a pricing structure based on number of domains.

Too bas they dont offer smaller licences :(
Well, i think it would be fairly priced around 35 USD, but it's up to you. I dont know all the costs/margins related to your vps's/license/etc...

Hello. That interests me as well. What about this? ->

Clientexec - not needed
1GB Burst RAM
256MB RAM guaranteed

How much would you charge for this plan?

Hello,
Generally if we make any kind of special pricing arrangements, it's not done on public forums. :) Please e-mail sales@powervps.com with the request and a member of our staff will get in touch with you with pricing.
