Please excuse the ignorance, but was reading the AUP when, close to the bottom I came across a one line statement saying "No Shell Provision" and no explanation. What is "no shell provision"?

oh no, I see  staring at  (me)

Wow, you actually read the AUP :D Good for you!

Don't think I've ever been able to stay awake through one myself :p

frankly, i never cared much for that kind of stuff. but, was browsing through some postings on WHT under dedicated servers and some people were complaining about how they did not know what and the host pulled the plug on them. well, i thought, i better know "what."

anyway, seems that thus far no one's answered my "no shell provision" question. i'm assuming this means if you sell reseller accounts you're not giving shell access. ???

Correct, we dont allow shell access for our shared or reseller accounts. It obviously doesn't apply to the VPS plans.

If you ever looking for a speedy response (or want to be guaranteed a response at all) please email sales or support. We don't monitor the forums as closely as we should.

charles,

no problem. i really wasn't waiting/expecting for a response from one of you guys. this is one of those "whenever" questions - out of curiousity. something i would dare not bother you -- God knows I have been bothering you guys enough tonight.

I think I'm about to break my server -- what a shame, it was all shiny and new, too. :(

np.

Regarding breaking your server, make a backup and break away. If you don't like the results, restore and repeat.
