WHM states that /root/cpanel3-skel is what will be used as a skeleton for new accounts. However, FTPing to the server, I do not see a /cpanel3-skel folder and only see:

.fantasticodata
.sqmaildata
.trash
etc
fantastico_admin_settings
fantastico_files
mail
public_ftp
public_html
tmp
www

So, I looked at my reseller account currently hosted elsewhere. I saw that within the /cpanel3-skel folder are two folders: public_ftp and public_html. I downloaded the /cpanel3-skel folder and its content to my hard drive and uploaded it to the VPS server thinking that this would do the trick. BUT... going to sites I set up after uploading the cpanel3-skel folder still show the new accounts' public_html blank directory:

[DIR] Parent Directory 27-May-2005 21:03 -
[DIR] cgi-bin/ 27-May-2005 20:59

I guess I'm doing this wrong. Where do I find the /root/cpanel3-skel folder or how do I access it?

You know, I just got five new clients and I think I need this question answered fast. So, off to support I go. I will post here whatever I find out just in case anyone else needs the info.

Should be in your main account for the domain that you setup when you ordered the vps. The one your nameservers are named after. Looks like you were in the Fantastico admin account on the server which is typically a different account.

for some reason, you cannot, apparently, see the the cpanel3-skel folder when you access the server via regular ftp client. you have to do it via SSH. I downloaded WinSCP which is SFTP - an SSH which functioned just like an FTP.

I'm surprised, I haven't looked lately, but I swear I saw it using ftp. None the less.

FYI . . .

I really like this ssh client

Both terminal window or file transfer window options
