Hi Karen

Cpanel is configured to monitor processes and alert and restart them if down. We do not monitor your VPS services though.

Expect to see an announcement from us pretty soon about a partnership with hyperspin, including a free hyperspin account (with one test) per VPS.

10 minute interval (not sure what thats called). You will be able to add other tests to the account if you want, for a fee.

I use a service like this (Siteuptime) right now and you really need 4x10 -> HTTP, PING, SMTP, MYSQL which translate to a $10 a month under hyperspin

A free account would be an excellent addition but in truth something like 50% off also would work as well. The only downside to Hyperspin is they can only monitor from the US rather than from other countries..

If you are mainly looking for http monitoring (even every minute), check out host-tracker. They monitor from approx 25 locations spread all over the world. I have been using it personally for sometime now.
Best part is that it costs exactly $0.00 per month.

Hi,
Do excuse my ignorance, but if you just want to monitor that your server is up, why would it matter how many locations you monitor from?

If it's up, it's up.

If network connections to some countries are down, there isn't much you can do about it - is there?

What if the network connection issue is on that country's side? As in, the server in the USA has connectivity issues to your server but, it works for everything else. If you had just that one USA server then it will report as down when it's not really down.
