Hi,
Anybody else here getting continuous clamd failed messages for last few hours?
clamd failed @ Thu Feb 22 02:37:29 2007. A restart was attempted automagicly.
Not a resource issue. Both CPU load and memory are fine.

/scripts/upcp updated clamd last night.
maybe yours broke?
I had some problems as well, only it was failing to start up at all. Turned out it was some missing boolean values for a few of the settings in clamd.conf

The other thing I'll toss out is that Clamd might not be the problem. Instead it might be in chkservd. Do you know for SURE clamd is failed or is chkservd the only indication? :)

Actually... after watching the helpdesk for a bit today (I posted this 2 min after I got in)... apparently overnight there was either a perl module update or a cpanel update that caused the problem.
/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/bin/whostmgr2 --updateaddons
Run the above and your problem should be fixed.

It apppears that the latest update to clamav (v0.90 around Feb 14) was not compatible with the Mail::ClamAV perl module .
A temporary workaround using using clamav instead of clamavmodule was available, but Feb 20 an updated Mail::ClamAV perl module was released taking care of the problem.
attention: There's was an update of clamav because a vulnerability for version prior to 0.90 was out! But the perl module wasn't updated ... and the update wasn't backward compatible :o
But a patch has been done since then and should be soon on all cpan.org mirrors.
But during that time, it's available here :

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the info.
Didn't the fix from Rob work for you?
/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/bin/whostmgr2 --updateaddons
Run the above and your problem should be fixed.
Thanks,

Hi,
Anyone else have any luck with this?
I tried both solutions provided by Rob and cPanel staff, as well as the other method of turning off and back on again the Exim system filter:
http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=63843
- no go for my 'main' VPS (the one with clients :( ), the other doesn't have ClamAV installed.
I suppose better raise a support ticket.

Clamd failed as expected (after reading this thread), when I updated addon modules from WHM like I generally do every other week...I did the same from SHELL as suggested by Rob...but that didnt help either.
I restarted EXIM from shell and it gave me the line number of /etc/clamd.conf which had a problem. I edited the file and corrected the problem and restarted exim again to see it failing again with another line number this time. I kept correcting and finally restarted chkservd once everything looked fine. The settings and their line numbers are given below.
