I am seeing slowness in my server off and on. I have been using dnsstuff to check traceroutes. And it's showing 30 ms . Which seems to be pretty slow. I have another server elsewhere that shows 11 ms.
What would you think could be causing the slowness? And what other tests should I be using to help determine what is hanging up / slowing down?
THanks,
Paul

Hi Paul
Use MTR (winmtr if on windows) http://winmtr.sf.net
Run that for a few minutes and send the output to support so we can see if you have a network problem.

Charles,
Is there a Mac version of WinMTR, or something comparable?

Eric, I dont see any direct port of it to download.
I have it installed via Fink. FInk is a tool that lets you install all kinds of GNU/open source software on your mac.

Fourbit,
Dnsstuff.com & Dnsreport.com are great tools, but I think the slow response issue is on their end. I noted this on all servers I manage and trust me all have good connections and optimal load balancing.

Look at WhatRoute here! (http://whatroute.net/)
It's not the most updated software, but I'm running it on OS X 10.3.8 without any problems

KARanden - thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks all.
I think that support found an issue with some other host on my server. :( Anyhow, things seem to be a bit better.
