Hi,

i think i will buy a powerVPS vps ( only waiting to have somw answers from sales@ ) but i did not understood about the namerservers setup.
What exactly i should ask to my actual ( i hope former, asap ) hosting provider ? I suppose my domain refer to its DNS server and in the domain panel it give me, among some thigs, i read

ns2.excom.it
ns1.excom.it

and i cannot edit this field. ( it's grayed ).

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

You shouldn't need to change anything on your old server prior to the move. Once your sites have been transferred over, you'll simply want to change the IP (I'm presuming the above ns details are your own nameservers and not your old host's) for each of the nameservers to the ones we will provide you with.

Best idea is to submit a support ticket once you've got your VPS, and we'll help you get it all set up.

actualli excom.it is my actual hosting provider so does this means that i haven't control on namerserver ?

Also, if i got 2 IP i suppose they will be used for the DNS server.
And for the mainsite/server which IP i can use ? Or i can use the same IP for DNS and VPS server ?

Hi FrancescoV,

I'm not staff, but I recently purchased some VPS plans here and think I can help. If you have more questions, you might wish to email sales[at]powervps.com for quicker response.

If excom.it is your hosting provider, you'll want to use one of your own domains for your personalized nameservers. When you buy the VPS Plan, you can indicate if you'd like these setup as ms1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com (which, I believe is the default).

Yes, your two IPs are used for your nameservers, and the first IP is also the main IP of you VPS, which is what you'd use for shared hosting accounts on this server. You can purchase additional IPs if needed.
