 I cant create cronjobs in my cpanel. When i try to create a cron it wont show up... it was working when i first got my vps a couple months ago but now when i try to add a cron job it wont work... Anyone with the same problem or has a fix?

I have another question, how do i edit crontab via ssh?

I tried crontab -e and i saved but the cron i added would not execute.

I emailed support yesterday and they said they will notify me when problem is resolved but it has been over 24 hours and still waiting.

Thats why im here to ask if anyone has this problem.... i want to know if its just a problem on my vps.

Maybe try and add a cron in your cpanel and see if it works then reply back...thanks!

Hi,

I do not see any ticket open about cronjobs, is it possible we are waiting for some info from you? Just give me the ticket id or update the ticket and we will look into it.
You can edit cronjob via shell using crontab -e
and list using crontab -l
For a user, it will be crontab -l -u user
As far as I know, the cronjob addition in cpanel works just fine and there are many who use it.

i was tired of waiting so i messed around and finally fixed it myself

if anyone ever come up with this problem just login shell and type this command

chmod a+s /usr/bin/crontab

over 2 days is pretty long time to wait...

Hello,

I sincerely apologize the the delay it took regarding this particular issue. We had 4 different techs check it. We verified permissions in /var/spool/cron, had manually rebuilt CPanel, and had done about a dozen other steps to try to correct the issue.

We had a ticket open with CPanel regarding it, as we could add crons from the command line but not from within the CPanel interface itself. The thought was that it might have been a bug somewhere in the software.

This issue did fall though the cracks, and I take responsibility for it. Part of my job as the Customer Support Manager is to make sure these types of situations do not happen. We handle literally hundreds of requests per day, and overall generally do a decent job with it. But in this case, we failed and I apologize for that.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to open a ticket and ask for it to be put to my attention.
