There is a POP3 server and a secure one running by default. How are these administered in Webmin or can they be?

I'd like to start adding email users.

Or do I need to install some other POP server?

uw-imap provides both pop and imap support. You just install it and it works, no configuration needed. I took the liberty of installing it for you, but you should make sure it's chkconfiged on and started, as well as the necessary firewall ports opened.

Just FYI, we dont install everything by default on a webmin server as most people dont try use it for general hosting, but for specific purpose use and don't want any bloat. You can yum install anything you need, or if its a common app, we may have a template for it (which saves you disk space and in some cases memory).

Ok I've got several comments:

[mean guy hat]
a) how did you install without knowing my root password?
b) what if that action conflicted with what I was working on?

[nice guy now]
a) you all are fast and responsive!
b) that was a nice thought to install that without me having to open a ticket.
c) yum, hmm ok well I'm a Yast man myself but I guess I can learn a new tool.
d) the only reasonably priced vps was the Webmin account IMHO and BTW, $18 bucks a month ongoing charge if I want just 10 gigs more space? At the end of a year I will have paid out @216 bucks for 10 gigs of space! At the end of 2 years, I will have paid out $432 bucks for 10 gigs of space. At that rate, a shiny new 400 Gig drive for my home system would cost me $17,280 bucks.

So by everything I'm not sure what you mean? Does this cpanel thing cost me the 40 something bucks price? For that much I could upgrade to the good Comcast account and host myself at home.

When I install a new Fedora VM on Microsoft Virtual PC and I pick everything...IIRC it uses around 5 gigs or so and that would overwhelm the 5 Gig limit in the webmin plan I agree.

We have the ability to install templates on your vps without needing to access it, not know your root paassword. I installed imap from a template

Besides first checking to see if it had been installed already, I know what it installs and know that its self contained and does not impose itself on anything.

Thank you, but I dont recommend using the forums for support. Our response times will be spotty and in many cases we dont know who you are. You happen to have a distinctive name and are a recent order.

Do what you have to do :)

Resources are not free, and 10K rpm scsi disks in a raid 10 configuration backed to offline backup servers (2 weeks worth) are not cheap. We also have space and power used by said power in a high end datacenter.

See above about resources not being free. No-one is forcing you to do business with us - you have many providers to choose from, or can host it yourself as you say.

Our pricing is on our website, but yes the minimum you will pay for a cpanel vops is $44.50.

Your entire VPS is installed from templates which allow us to give you a complete OS and little to no space used for it. Once we run yum to update it, it does use some space, because those updates are not templates.

We cannot install *eveything* via templates (we have templates for most things), but you don't need eveything anyway.

Indeed you could but:

You wouldn't have CPanel unelss you feel like spending $1,000 on it
You'd have to configure and install everything
You'd have a lot more worries than if you hosted it at PowerVPS for only $44.50 a month.

It's a pretty good deal in my opinion, and cheaper than many other VPS providers.

You got that right Zap! Not to mention the support we get! What have we had in 6 months? 2-3 hours down time max? I COULD go invest in my own or go to one of these fly-by-night sites with 10000gig for 30 bucks but then again, I want reliable for MY customers so I'll stay right where I am.

Just to save everyone some energy, I didn't realize before replying, but Dilton cancelled shortly after posting this. It's his prerogative to go for a cheaper provider (or host it himself), and good luck to him.

Can't please 'em all Charles. I've weighed the options and this is the best choice for me. My business has tripled since I came over here...I'd be a fool to go any other way.

I agree, the service and product is excellent here. I only wish I had found them 6 months ago. :)

I was having toruble with another provider I have a reseller account with, so I picked up a VPS here thinking I'd migrate clients from the other provider to my VPS here but no one want's to agree to move to the new VPS. I don't want to force them, but they were all complaining about email issues and slow server response. Anyhow, I've been putting new clients on the VPS and the existing ones can move when they feel it's right for them.

Keep up the QoS PowerVPS.

Looks like my story... i was trying to run a webhosting company with a vps that wasn't reliable...

Lucky me that most of my big customers didn't notice the many downtimes that i had...

Since i'm here, my business is very very healthy. Clientexec and cpanel is perfect and offered me the chance to start on a new way -> the highway! :)

charles & tom, i'm doing a lot of pub on wht for you, could you give me a month free :)
no, seriously, i'm very happy with you and i will let everyone knows for free just because your business helped me so much to give my business a boost ;)
