What is the schedule of the Virtuozzo VPS backups? If I look at the date and time of each backup they are all over the place. Sometimes early in the morning, mid-day or late at night. I can see some fluctuations as jobs are probably done sequentially and don't take the same time every day.

Dan they run at the same time every night, but I'll explain why you are seeing different times. The backups are done sequentially so as to not put a load on the server. So the time it takes for the VPS before yours to get backed up will vary depending where they are in their backup rotation and/or how much data has changed. Put several servers in a row and the differences can add up.

Charles,

That's what I thought. I was only a little surprised that the difference can be that big. However, the one day a week where a full backup is taken it surley has to take a while longer.

Thanks

What makes you think it failed? Remember that only one full backup is taken per week and then the following six backups are incremental, that's why they are smaller.

Your June 29 and July 5 seem to be the full backups and the other ones are incremental.

Before I reconfigure or install stuff I am not sure about I take a manual backup, which is always a full one.

Dan is right - they are incrementals. See every 7th one is larger. As he says, if you initiate your own backup, it will be about the size of the larger ones.
