I have asked this once before but I didn't keep notes and I couldn't find the old ticket in the history. Sorry to ask again.

I have an SSL certificate for my main domain and I installed it in Plesk. I would have expected that going to https://my-domain.com:8443/ would use my certificate but I am getting a warning because it is using a defenderhosting certificate instead.

Back, when I asked this before, support had changed my VPS to use my certificate but that made me loose the Virtuozzo Power Panel. Because I rather have the power panel than the SSL certificate I had asked support to change it back.

Why is this a problem and why does changing it affect the Power Panel.

Plesk is sold by SWSoft, the same company that makes the virtualization technology. In order to give better integration with plesk (being able to access the power panel from plesk and visa versa), they actually trap all traffic to port 8443 and route it appriately. This is done outside your VPS and therefore you can't control what certificate is used. If you run plesk on another port, then you can.

Charles,

I see. If I go back to the way your support team had me setup where I can use my certificate (not sure what they did but the port was the same), could I still access the PowerPanel through a separate session to port 4643? I would not mind the inconvenience since I don't use the PowerPanel much but I want to be able to still use it.

No. I believe what they did was the other option (i forgot to mention). They disabled your power panel access.

You can't change the port the power panel is on.

So your options are

1. Both plesk and the power panel, but our cert
2. Both plesk and the power panel, but plesk on an alternate port so you can use your cert.
3. Plesk with your cert but no power panel
