Some Q on cpanel reseller hosting.
Given 2 dedicated IP, 1 for primary domain and the other for all other domains?
No shell access, what if I have an application that need it to install, can temporary allow access?
SSL?
Secure FTP?
Can I use PostgreSQL?
phpinfo link? need more info like php version, allow_url_fopen (on/off), zend optimizer, GD and register_globals (on/off)
SoloLaunch?
Full technical support thru forum/support ticket?
Which server will I be or where to check my server status?
//thanks
This is reseller hosting, I do believe they will allow ssh access if you pay a initial fee, a PVPS rep will get back to you on that.
SSL if you have a dedicated IP for that domain, you have to supply your own SSL certificate.
SecureFTP, that we requireds SSH, if you get access to that then your all set.
PostgreSQL, I cant comment if they install this on the servers.
PHPinfo, Check with Sales@powervps.com
SoloLaunch, no idea what that is.
Yes you get technical support with the forums / support tickets. PVPS is known to have one of the best support teams in the hosting business.
You get your server when you order your account.
I personally think your should just skip reseller account and go straight to VPS. It has great advantages since you can control your own php settings, install what you want when you want.

The best place to ask these questions would be a sales ticket. :)
But under NO circumstances do we allow SSH on shared/reseller servers. If you need SSH, you will need either a VPS or a dedicated server.
For SSL, there is a shared self-signed certificate installed. If you wish to use your own cert, you must purchase it from a recognized signing authority. We can help you install it. Just remember, you can only have one SSL cert per IP.
SFTP is essentially SSH with an easy interface, so no since it requires SSH access.
Postgres and Sololaunch I don't believe is installed. The phpinfo can vary a bit from server to server. So until I know what server you would be placed on, it's pointless to provide a phpinfo script. However if there is a specific question you have in general about modules typically installed, etc, I can most likely help answer that.
TYPICALLY register globals is on, Zend and GD are installed, and I *BELIEVE* url_fopen is enabled.
Regarding support... we provide TRUE 24/7 support via e-mail and our helpdesk. (it all goes to the same spot). Try it out sometime... e-mail support in the middle of the night if you would like to see. :)
Regarding what server... it depends on when you order, and so on.

Also, I'll clarify one additional point since I did not above... these forums are NOT a means of support. This is a place for customers to chat with other customers, share expierences and questions, etc.
Our staff try to be active here as they're able... but if you want a GUARANTEED response, please open a ticket or e-mail us. We can't see your account info or anything regarding your site/server from these forums. Our helpdesk and support system are heavily integrated with our customer database system. So we only provide official support though the ticket system and mail.
Let us know if you need anything else.

Also need some feedback on VPS hosting, is it easy for novice to start with?
Thinking of starting with VPS because I may need SSH and postgreSQL, but a bit worry on VPS as I dont know much abt unix, server command etc.
Any comment on the server uptime?
Wish powerVPS would consider offering SohoLaunch (for a fee) as it should be able to get cheaper licenses in bulk compared to us individually.
//thanks
With the managed VPS PowerVPS takes care of most if not all your managing needs. You need to do minimal SSH work on your own. Support tickets get answered in 5 to 10 mins. Uptime, you get 100% uptime unless your working on your VPS and require reboot. I havnt had a downtime except back in Dec 2004 when the Raid-10 disk array failed and had to move to a backup host. WIth your VPS you can install anything you want since you do get root access.

I second that Hvu... Never going back to reseller!

I second Hvu as well, on almost all that he said there, except about "minimal SSH work on your own".... Well, I believe I have done nothing on SSH except type what was sent to me by PVPS through a support mail (even that was just for my satisfaction to check abt a service which i thought was not up). Just want to assure that PVPS would help you with even that SSH part if you kindly request them for the same.
Yeah, I rarely ever do too much in SSH other than monitor things and tweak things which is not even needed once everything is running smoothly :).
Best,
elix.
