I plan to purchase VPS but I know after a while I will want to go dedicated probably with Defender. What class or book could someone suggest that I buy to learn how to manage dedicated servers. I figure I could prepare myself now so that in a year or so i'll be ready to move on.

I can't recommend any books, but Oreilly books are always good. The Linux Documentation Project is the definitive source for linux docs.

The VPS will be a greta learning experience. You can poke around and see how things work, and start doing your own maintenance. You'll always have help if you get stuck.

yes, you won't learn without having the machine available to test.

Get a vps to start... try things... then in a year switch to a dedicated... You'll be more confident since having a dedicated without a good experience with linux isn't a good idea...

And support guys here are great... They will pull their hair off their head before telling you they are unable to help you :)

Does that explain the baldness I've seen lately on my head? lol
