bandwdith useage:
CPANEL POWER-1 only 150 compare to servint 200
CPANEL POWER-2 only 250 compare to servint 300

how come the bandwidth is so expensive?

1GB extra bandwidth is $1.00 per month
10GB bandwidth pre-purchased is $8.00 per month
25GB extra bandwidth pre-purchased is $19.99 per month
50GB extra bandwidth pre-purchased is $35.99 per month

We have run one special or another for over the past 6 months that gives you more bandwidth than servint.

Because it's quality *multi-homed* bandwidth and someone has to pay for it. Even servint doesn't get their bandwidth for free anymore.

Next to disk, bandwidth is very expensive. As Charles just pointed out powerVPS have a great sale right now for an extra 100GB a month..

Personally I would rather another 10gb of diskspace than an additional 100gb of bandwidth..

Yeah=). But 10GB extra is only $18/mo so if you ever get to like 70% just stack on some more.

ahh...back in the day when they had decent bandwidth (GNAPS)...

I originally tried VPS over at liquidweb. They have some good machines etc and a good little setup (although I did find my machine would "freeze" from time to time) the biggest issue I had with them was bandwidth. In the month I "tried" their service, they got two lots of DOS attacks taking out all the sites for anything upto an hour. DOS attacks are a factor of life but if your net connections cannot cope with this (on more than one occasion it was clear they could not) then it is time to bail out and go to someone who could. Thus why I came over to here..

It is the oldest saying in the book, you want quality of service then you are not going to get it for $1.99 and someone will always have it cheaper but what are you really getting for that price..

Whatever you choose is your decision. Bandwidth costs alot when you have premium multihome connects. I say test out both places to see what you like PowerVPS has 30day money back Servint not sure.

Bandwidth and space are over-rated. High availability is the most important (to me).

Reliability is King!

Unlike when I was at Tektonic and my VPS dissapeared without a peep from Tektonic to me, to this day, just a total silence.

I had to get it third hand that they had lost the VPS *and* the backups they were supposed to be making for me.

I was lucky that I had just made a backup of the only really important account on that server the morning it went, and I could easily recreate the others.

So bandwidth and dsik space can all be added. Reliability can not.

Funnily enough, I make daily backups to my home server now of everything.

Have fun everyone.
