UK Speeds

Hi, both myself and my clients are from the uk.

I just wanted to check what the speed was like compared to our current hosting in the UK.

Can someone give me a link to a couple of sites hosted on a VPS server so I can check load times etc?

I know being across the pond probably wont make that much of a difference but just wanted to be sure.

I am also in Europe and the speeds are very good.

I believe that you test their network by pinging or tracerouting the ip 204.157.0.1.

If you're getting poor transfer speeds at the moment there might be something going on between there and here. I'm on Demon so it might be ISP specific or something further up the chain and was only pulling about 30kb/s from my box and the link Charles posted.

However this is the first time I've noticed it not max out my 2Mb/s line. Pinging my server takes about 100ms, so yes it's probably double of a box in the UK, but a lot of UK hosters use servers in the US anyway.

Here's some forums I've got hosted www.portalforums.net about 20 users on at the moment, and this is with Cpanel-1 package, I've also got a dozen or so other sites mixed between dynamic and static that get around 15-20 000 page views per day.

Send us a traceroute or output from mtr (winmtr.sf.net) and your source IP if you think the perf is poorer than usuall so we can take a look. At the very least we can help you identify where the issue is, and in some cases may even be able to help.

The file downloads at 150k, usually get 250k max.

Ive tried a couple of american sites with file downloads and im getting the same from them so its probably just the time of day.

Everything seems fine to me but if you board, ive attached a traceroute with MTR.

My ip is : 82.39.14.158
