Dear Valued Customer

First, we are still on track for going live November 1st with Windows VPS! We have finalized our offerings and pricing which is included below.

As part of the preparation we had originally planned on rebuilding all VPS and spending the last month testing on the clean builds. Well, we spent the last month testing, but we never did do the rebuilds. We ask that by November 1st you make the decision to stay on as a paid customer, or not, and this will affect how we proceed. Your options at this point are

1. If you choose not to stay on as a paying customer, please prepare to migrate your domains to another server/service and let us know when you no longer need the VPS. You have a hard deadline of November 7th to do this. We thank you for trying the service and would like your feedback as to why you decided not to stay with us.

2. If you wish to stay, we still need to do a clean build of your VPS. Billing will start on November 1st but we can do the rebuild before then, or up until the 7th, but no later. Just let us know what is most convenient for you. As before this will require you to backup your data as the current VPS will be destroyed.

We will be offering the following plans

Windows Power-0 - $39/month
Panel: None
Disk: 5Gb
RAM: 256Mb
Bandwidth: 100GB Monthly Transfer
CPU: Baseline - equivalent to test VPS power
IPS: 2
RDC: 1 license

Windows Power-1 - $69/month
Panel: Plesk (NO MSDE)
Disk: 7.5Gb
RAM: 384Mb
Bandwidth: 150GB Monthly Transfer
CPU: Power-0 + 25%
IPS: 2
RDC: 1 license

Windows Power-2 - $99/month
Panel: Plesk (with MSDE)
Disk: 10Gb
RAM: 512Mb
Bandwidth: 250GB Monthly Transfer
CPU: Power-0 + 50%
IPS: 6
RDC: 2 licenses

Please note that MSDE is only available on the Power-2. You can only use mysql with Plesk on the Power-1 (or Power-0 if you install it). You can install and use any software you want on a Power-0 but we cannot support 3rd party apps - we will support the OS.

For tracking purposes,
Customer: Valued Customer
Email: you@yourdomain.com
VPS ID: DVE123456
Option: [ ENTER #1 or #2 (and if #2, what plan) here ]

Again, thanks for participating in the trial and please let us know if you would like to signup for a Windows VPS going forward.

Thanks

Is there no other upgrade path?
E.g. a Power-0 with, say 384MB RAM without Plesk?

This would be a power-1 without plesk. So your upgrade path is exactly the same as the other plans, just without plesk.

I think you have to reconsider your price. 512 MB for $99/month is too costly. We can get a dedicated server for that price.

Is there any discount for beta testers?

Thanks for your feedback, our price points factored in many things, and we feel with the level of support, hardware, and service we provide, it's a good value for your dollar.

At this time we are not offering any discounts either.

Does the disk space include the Operating System and the bits and pieces that make a Windows server. or is it the amount over and above the base OS?

charles

The VPS will have a negligable amount of disk space used (so in short, its all useable space).

Are there any plans to include MS SQL into your Windows VPS plans soon?

charles

It already is in the Power-2

I must be misunderstanding the details of the Power-2 plan from this thread contents, but doesn't it say MSDE instead of MS SQL 2000? I've had a look at the Windows VPS page too at http://www.powervps.com/windows-vps.php but I can't seem to find any reference to MS SQL there too.

Thanks.

I'm sorry, it is me who is using the term loosely. msde contains mssql, but has limits on the number of connections i believe. If you mean full blown mssql, we are exploring options like giving access to a shared mssql server, but I cannot give you andy eta or specifics.

I hear MS SQL 2005 Express has lifted most or all of those limits present in MSDE, but not sure whether it would take up more resources too. That was one of the things I had planned to install and test during the Beta.

Btw, a new version of Windows Virtuozzo has been released by SwSoft. Does that have the RDC disconnection & server time among other issues ironed out?

That was not listed on they're bug-fix list. Most of the issues resolved were related to Windows backups, and drive partition issues.

I was wondering how do you handle the installation of custom components (DLLS) developed by me or my customers.

No, sorry. Nothing stopping you installing anything you choose in your VPS yourself though.

I can or I cannot?

What does it mean?
I can or I cannot?

It means it's your VPS and you can install whatever you want - as long as it's within PowerVPS' AUP
