i just got myself this package. being a first time user i had like to recieve tips from other users!

Secure down your server. Apache / SSH / Exim / etc. I would first "mask" apache version numbers from outside viewers. You can do so with editting httpd.conf (Look here to see how to http://forums.deftechgroup.com/showthread.php?t=46). As you can see from other VPS in the Defender IP space they show everything See Defender IP Space (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/hosted?netname=DEFENDER-204-157-7-0-24,204.157.7.0,204.157.7.255).

Hi Henry

This is security by obscurity and I'm really not sure it is that effective. First off, a determined hacker can do various operations to get a signature of the server and determine what it's running anyway. Second, the bulk of these exploits are done with scripts that blindly try any server it can find, and it could care less what the headers say anyway.
