I'm new to windows servers and being able to do a remote access on a server. ;) It's really cool btw..

But my question is, does using remote access consume the accounts bandwidth? I'm sure that remote access does use a good amount of bandwidth, and I don't want to use it to often if this is the case.

I know that certain things you do on a UNIX machine through cpanel and what not, doesn't use bandwidth and I was just wondering if remote access would be one of those things on Windows?

Also, could I get a list, if there is one, of everything that doesn't consume bandwidth? Or would it be safe to say that anything done on the internal network wouldn't use the accounts bandwidth?

Also, is it possible to grant users access for remote access?

Not really sure on this, as I said before I'm new to windows servers. ;)

Both ssh and rdp use bandwidth, but not so much that you should be worried about it (rdp uses more than ssh obviously). Transferring files will consume a lot more.

I don't think much. What kinds of things do you have in mind?

BTW, on linux you can see your bandwidth use in the power panel. This isn't in the current windows power panel, but I imagine will be soon enough. I just checked and our own internal bandwidth calculation tool isn't giving me results for windows so I'll have to look into that, but usually you should be able to ask us for your bandwidth use if you want to know. I can assure you it will be way less than you think you have used :)

In short, don't worry about RDP using up your bandwidth.

Regarding other users, you can create accounts and then can RDP as well, but we only provide one license for RDP per VPS, so only one connection is allowed at a time. We will probably offer additional sessions as an addon if there is a demand.

Ok, I looked for RDP for other users but I can't seem to find it. I really don't like plesk. lol I wish cPanel would hurry with their windows version...

Anywho...

I tired to login after creating another users through RDP just to see what would happen, and it wont let me. So not sure what I'm doing wrong..

Perhaps someone who actually uses windows can comment :)

Are you planning to give RDP to your users? (you can't) I created account and I could log in. Maybe you have a numsessions problem??

cpanel for windows... that's a scary thought (unstable+unstable :) )

You can also allow RDP for users in Plesk. Under a domain, click Setup. For System Access, choose "Login enabled".

Maybe you could not log in with the other user because you were still logged in since you said you created while in a rdp session. :) ;)

That could possible be what it is. I'll keep playing with it and see what happens.
