Hi, I only have one question right now. Suppose you have more than one domain. Is it possible and easy to setup e-mail addresses for various domains you may have hosted on one of your VPS's?

I have a VPS now with another company and it is just about impossible to setup e-mail addresses for individual domains. What I mean is that currently, if I setup an address, then it is set up for all the domains I host and the all go to the same mail box, I can't setup for example, mike@abc.com and mike@123.com and have those exits as two separate mail boxes. With my current VPS they all go to the same mail box and unless I want to go in and manually configure the send mail config files and user files I can’t separate the addresses from the single user.

I hope I was able to make my question clear enough. Let me know if I did not.

Thanks!!!
Michael

This is a standard feature of any of the panels (cpanel / plesk / directadmin)

Thanks for getting back to me, how about Webmin, or is it only availalbe on the more expensive plans?

Thanks,
Michael

Yes sendmail supports virtual hosts and of course you can install any MTA of your choice. I explicitly excluded webmin from the list though. Why? Well, there is no way of saying this without it coming out wrong, so I'll just go ahead and say it (this is not intended to be a "knock" on you or anyone else).

Simply the fact that you are asking this question means that a webmin VPS is **NOT** for you. Setting up and maintaining a webmin based VPS requires solid *nix commandline skills and knowlege. Mail and any other service or tool you want to use on a webmin VPS will need to be configured by you, yourself. We cannot do this for you. Don't forget all the things you probably take for granted if you have used commercial panels, like DNS, mailing lists, ftp servers etc.

No offence taken, thanks for the honest answer.

Truth of the matter is I do have some experience administering a Linux Redhad server (all by command line) but I am looking for something that I can easily show someone else how to run without training them to much. I have no experience with any of these "Control Panels" so any info/advice is greatly appreciated.

I setup a Fedora Server and just downloaded Webmin to test it out myself.

Thanks again!!

Also, while your being honest, what’s your opinion on the Windows VPS, I've never seen a windows one before, is it brand new, and is it stable/secure?

Thanks again for your candidness.

Windows has been around for years and has been pretty stable as far as Windows Server. Regarding Windows in a VPS enviornment, it's not been around as long as Linux VPS... so it's not quite as "polished".

Like any platform, it does have it's issues. But the same can be said about Linux, etc as well.

We've had our Windows VPS offering in beta for a year practically before offering it publically. It is pretty stable and a good system. I would personally go with whatever you're more comfortable with. If you know Windows server better than Linux, it would most likely be a better choice. The opposite applies as well... if you know Linux better than Windows, my suggestion would be to go with it.

If your comfortable setting it up initially, webmin will work fine for running/maintaining it.

Just to add to what Rob said, I suggest giving a windows VPS a try if your curious. There is nothing like seeing to believe, and we have a 30 day money back guarantee (sans a $7 panel fee if you take one).
