Thank you for the great comparison with Rackspace cloud server offering.
What about their "cloud sites" product.

That one seems to not have all the issues mentioned, or have I missed something?
Lastly, I asked "... is it not misleading to call it 'cloud hosting' ?" in relation to your new Fuse offering.
I will initiate migration for one of my VPS's here to the new platform over the week-end. The other has most of my client sites on it, so I will see how this one goes before deciding on that one.
Is there a good guide on how best to do this and minimise the downtime please?
Many thanks,

It looks like their cloud sites product is more of a shared hosting play... you can't customize the modules for PHP, no tomcat, no SSH, etc... there are situations when I'm sure this will work for people, but most of our customers get their own server for a few big reasons, one of those being that you can customize all the applications on the server to your liking, not the provider's.
In regards to calling it cloud hosting... there is no real definition of the cloud. It depends on who you talk to. So no, it isn't misleading as our control panel allows you to scale up and down at any time using the resources available in the "cloud".
Regarding a good guide... I made this earlier this year and covers how to move everything over in 30 days, minimizing downtime, etc. I will attach it to this post. In reality you could make this a 7-14 day process and still have almost zero downtime, but you want to make sure to plan it out and not just "do it".
I hope it helps.
PS: It looks like the forum will not allow me to attach the file for one reason or another. If you could send an email to support in my attention I can get it to you.
