yum and apt

Hi,

Can I use yum to install software in my VPS or will this collide with Plesk? Or in other words: when installing my own software what should I watch out for not colliding with Plesk?

Yum is just now not on my system whereas apt and apt-shell were present on the last one, before the shift to the new VA datacenter.

Hi Erich,

You can download yum from our own repo: http://yum.powervps.com; we don't recommend using third party repositories with plesk however. Art - http://www.atomicrocketturtle.com does provide a very good repository for use with Plesk Control panel systems.

In answer to your original question; yes, you can; just be careful.
